Here we are once again. Trying to predict the ever surprising Oscar nominations. It's always a case of who got snubbed and who shouldn't have been nominated. OVERALL
24/107 of my predictions were wrong.
La La Land deserved every nomination.
Three nominations wasn't enough for Jackie.
Australia for Best Foreign Film? I've known about Tanna for a while but never did I think it would get an Oscar nomination.
Interesting pick to represent Nocturnal Animals.
Really Nicole Kidman? She wasn't that good. There I said it!
Back in May 'Loving' was the favorite for almost every award but it only got the one nomination.
I'm so glad that Elle go the recognition the movie deserved since it didn't get recognised by the Foreign Oscar category.
Suicide Squad of getting a nomination is the equilvalent of 'Fifty Shades of Grey' getting one two years ago.
The Lobster's nomination is most welcome
5/20 acting nominees are black, only one is not in English
No production awards for The Handmaiden is a disappointment from the Academy as they could've started to recognise how great Korean cinema is the moment
I'm glad Fire at Sea did end up getting a nomination
Three of the docos are about African Americans, another is about the migrant crisis. It looks like the doco makers care more about the social issues of the time than everyone else.
A animated film getting a nomination for best VFX? Well it happened with Kubo.
Anyways those are some of my thoughts, what did you think? Was anything left out or shouldn't be here?
