X-Men: Apocalypse

Yet another Superhero movie based on a comic book has hit our screens this year and it's not the best nor the worst.
This is the third prequel to reboot the x-men franchise I think? This time the X-men face Apocalypse, the first mutant, played by Oscar Issac. When Apocalypse is awaken in the 1980s the X-men must unite to prevent him from becoming the overlord-dictator-ruler (you get the idea) of the world.
We see the return of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Evan Peters and Nicholas Hoult as Professor X, Magneto, Mystique, Quicksilver and Beast, respectively. This entrance in the X-men franchise also introduces us to new faces for old characters like Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Alexandra Shipp as Storm and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler. Lucas Till and Rose Byrne also come after their absence from Days of Futures Past.
Of the large cast McAvoy and Fassbender are once again the highlights in the acting part of the movie and i'm sure they aren't giving it their best. With the younger actors who are marking their first appearance in the X-men films, I can see the potential of them being great actors but here isn't the place where they're gonna be able to do that.
As you can see this is a big cast, much like Captain America: Civil War but it's not as successful as here. The main relationship in the series is undeniably the one between Professor X and Magneto but it's put on hold here for most of the movie and until it re-surged towards the end the movie suffered. There are new characters here that get the introduction they deserve but that's only for the heroes.
Apocalypse is followed by his four horseman of the apocalypse but with the exception of Magneto you really couldn't care for any of them, they barely have a strong character arc and the hero is only as good as its villain. Apocalypse is barely any better and that's because we are never given a motivation for his actions. We just watch him try to take over the world because... he wants to rule. We'll never find out why he is so greedy.
There are however highlights to the movie but it's the same as Days of Futures Past, And yes. I am talking about Quicksilver (It's the stuff sweet dreams are made of). The movie also acknowledges that X-men 3 was, for lack of better word, shit. So it flips it on its head and the movie gets a joke out of it.
This is the fourth superhero movie this year and the fourth one with noticeable CGI. Deadpool had a smaller budget but it didn't know how to use it. Batman v Superman's was just unfocused and misused under the direction. However Captain America didn't have too many problems but here in X-men it's just rushed and it suffers and therefore the action does too.
If the movie had more focused voice in it's direction (plot and character wise) it would support the actors and create a more even film that would be more entertaining to watch upon revisits as the years go on.
